The Basics of Poker

Poker is a card game in which players wager money on the cards they receive from a random distribution. Experienced players often fast-play their strong hands, which means that they bet early and aggressively to build the pot. This can discourage opponents who are waiting for a better hand, but it is important to be aware that strong hands may still be beaten by a better bet. It is also important to watch other players and consider how you would react in their situation in order to develop quick instincts.
